Wyevale Grounds Maintenance of
Gloucestershire, undertaking

at the BALI National Landscape Awards 2005 held in London on Friday 18
November. The Awards, which
are run annually by the British Association of Landscape Industries
(BALI), pay tribute to landscapers who have demonstrated exceptionally
high standards of professionalism and skill. The awards presented to Wyevale Grounds Maintenance were for their maintenance of Ventnor Park in the “Grounds Maintenance of Public Grounds (Free Public Access)” Category sponsored by DLF Trifolium Ltd and one “For the Use of Recycled Materials” also at Ventnor Park sponsored by WRAP. TV gardening personality Chris Beardshaw presented the award to David Brew, Managing Director of Wyevale Grounds Maintenance. Ventnor

since January 2002, is a formal
park laid out in a Victorian style which includes a range of features
including putting green, band stand and aviary together with a wide
range of horticultural features including fine turf, shrub beds,
herbaceous borders, roses, annual bedding and trees. In addition a
stream that runs through the park has significant wildlife including
fish, birds such as moorhens & ducks and other water insects.
The BALI National Landscape Awards are designed to showcase the high
levels of professionalism attained by BALI members each year.
The event is now in it’s 29th year and is the
largest landscaping awards scheme in Europe.
The competition is independently adjudicated by a panel of
leading experts in landscaping. There
are 16 different categories covering domestic, commercial, grounds
maintenance and interior projects.
The luncheon ceremony was held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Hyde
